KNUST DIPLOMA IN PHLEBOTOMY

KNUST DIPLOMA IN PHLEBOTOMY ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

In order to get admission to study at KNUST for a diploma in phlebotomy, applicants must meet the below requirements

i. Applicants must have a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with an aggregate score of Twenty-Four (24) or better in six (6) subjects, comprising three (3) core and three (3) elective subjects. The applicant must have Credits (A- D) in three (3) Core Subjects i.e., English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and Credits (A–D) in three (3) Elective Subjects namely, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Elective Mathematics.
ii. Applicants must have a West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with an aggregate score of thirty-six (36) or better in six (6) subjects, comprising three (3) core and three (3) elective subjects. The applicant must have Credits (A1 – C6) in three (3) Core Subjects i.e., English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and Credits (A1 – C6) in three (3) Elective Subjects namely, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Elective Mathematics.
iii. Mature applicants must be at least 25 years at the time of admission and must possess either five credits at GCE O-Level including English language and Mathematics or WASSCE/SSCE with credits in three core subjects (English, Mathematics, and Integrated science) plus three electives in the following areas: Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry
iv. Foreign students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above, provided they are proficient in the English Language. Equivalent qualifications may include Ordinary/Advance Levels and High School Diploma as will be determined by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana.
v. Health professionals such as Nurses, Medical Laboratory Scientists, and Medical Doctors may be considered for admission. The entry level for such candidates will be in the second year of the programme, subject to passing a departmental board interview.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS

i. Candidates may write an entrance examination and if necessary, must attend and pass an interview conducted by the Department responsible for the programme.
ii. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to pay all approved programme fees for the duration of study.
iii. Applicants must in addition have a thorough proficiency in written and spoken English.
