Office of the directorate of student affairs
The Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of
Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi-Ghana, is mandated to provide the
necessary welfare support services to all students, both Ghanain and KNUST International Students.
It offers a one-stop-shop for all student issues and all students are encouraged to
access the services of the Office when required.
The Office of the Directorate of Student Affairs is located in the J. Harper Building,
Commercial Area, KNUST, and it is directly opposite Kojo Botsio Building.
The J. Harper Building, also called Student Integration Centre, houses the Offices
of the Director of Student Affairs, Student Affairs and Financial Services, KNUST
Counselling Centre, the Protestant Chaplaincy and Ghana Immigration Service –
KNUST Office.

KNUST International Students Admission requirements
WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS
Applicant must have credits in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science. And also credits in three (3) elective subjects or its equivalent relevant to the chosen programme with aggregate 24 or better.
General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Applicants
Applicants must have passes in three compulsory subjects including: English Language and three elective subjects, including Business Mathematics.
Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)
As an applicant, you must have passed three compulsory subjects which include English Language and passes in three elective subjects including Business Mathematics.
MATURE APPLICANTS
Who have attained the age of 25 years and above at the time of application must have credits in five (5) GCE ‘O Level subjects including English language and Mathematics, in addition to pass an entrance exams or interview.

Arrival of KNUST International Students into GHANA
KNUST International Students are advised to arrive in Ghana at least three days before the
reopening date or latest within three days after reopening. This will enable you to receive the
necessary support at the point of arrival, settle in and undertake all the necessary
registration, and orientation.
Support for the arrival of the KNUST International Students
The University has set up a Help Desk at the Kotoka International Airport’s (KIA)
Arrival Hall to help and guide all International Students of KNUST and their families
to travel safely to Kumasi
At the airport, locate the KNUST Help Desk at the Arrival Hall and seek the necessary assistance from the officials.

Kindly note that the University would station a bus at Kumasi Airport to assist in
transporting students to Campus. When you miss a scheduled bus, you can always
pick a taxi to campus, specifically to the GUSSS Hostel.
Accommodation arrangements for KNUST International Students
Rooms are reserved for first-year KNUST International Students at the GUSSS Hostel
(commonly known as Brunei). If you are unable to secure a room online before
arrival, get to the main reception of GUSSS Hostel and show your admission
letter to prove that you are an international student duly admitted to study at the
University. You will be assisted to secure a very decent accommodation/room in a
conducive and academic friendly hostel, with students from different parts of the
world including Ghanaian students.

Requirements to obtain student resident permit & permit renewal
— Kindly note that all International Students are required to have two permits
from the Government of Ghana, represented by the National Identification
Authority (NIA) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to regularise their stay in
Ghana and on the KNUST Campus.
— The Government of Ghana issues the Non-Resident Card (ECOWAS Card) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) issues the Resident Permit.
— Obtaining a NEW Non-Resident Card (ECOWAS Card) costs the cedi equivalent
of USD 120.00, and students are expected to renew the Card every year at the
cedi equivalent of USD 60.00 until the completion of their programme of study.
— Kindly note that KNUST Students are expected to pay this money ONLY at the
Calbank KNUST Branch or at Calbank Nhyieso Branch.
— After paying and acquiring the Non-Resident Card (ECOWAS Card), students
would have to proceed to the Ghana Immigration Service, KNUST Office within the
J. Harper Building, Commercial Area, to pick up forms for application for
Resident Permit.
