Research and Training Coordinator (CARISCA)
The Centre of Applied Research Innovation in Supply Chain-Africa (CARISCA) is an interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence established at the University to conduct applied research, educational programs (PhD, MPhil/MSc), and professional development and training courses in Health and Agricultural Supply Chain Innovation.
CARISCA is the premier BRIDGE-TRAIN Programme of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in sub-Saharan Africa focused on supply chain innovation activities in the Health and Agriculture sectors.
There is a vacancy for RESEARCH AND TRAINING COORDINATOR to be based at its secretariat in the KNUST School of Business, KNUST.
This position is contingent on the availability of grant funding. The present project cycle is scheduled to end date on June 03, 2025.
Qualification And Experience For Application (CARISCA)
Minimum qualifications for Application (CARISCA)
- Master’s degree in international affairs, economics, public administration, public policy, program evaluation, or a technical field related to the project is required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in training or event management OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
- Minimum of three years of experience in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications and Google Workspace environment and internet data collection software (Google Forms or equivalent such as Qualtrics, Survey Monkey etc). Required skills include data management and analysis and collecting and reporting performance metrics.
Additional Requirements for Application (CARISCA)
- Excellent report writing, coupled with analytical, communication and oral presentation skills including fluency in English.
- Mastery of the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative data collection methodologies.
- Extensive database management and analysis experience.
- Experience in training others on one-on-one and in groups.
- Must have demonstrated ability to work in complex environments, work across different cultures with diverse staff to deliver within timelines.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Research and Training Coordinator (CARISCA)
The roles and responsibilities of the Research and Training Coordinator are as follows:
- Support the Project Director and Director of Operations to manage the day-to-day coordination and implementation of research and training activities, including demands of external collaborative research partners;
- Working with the MERL Director, support the design, data collection, data analysis and reporting of associated milestones of CARISCA research activities;
- Work with CARISCA’s key personnel to ensure that the implementation of Centre’s technical activities take deliberate actions to promote inclusiveness of disadvantaged groups at the rate of at least 30 percent;
- Be a liaison to USAID and the CARISCA team for scheduling and supporting Agency training courses to be presented at KNUST;
- Coordinate and report on research activities of KNUST faculty, CARISCA PhD students, and collaborative research with other African universities and Arizona State University;
- Liaise with other USAID projects missions that may be interested in participating in CARISCA research, training, and other activities;
- Work with the KNUST-based Communications Officer to organize research events and workshops for CARISCA students and visiting faculty;
- Work with Centre Manager to handle all conference coordination and scheduling activities;
- Work in consultation with the Director of Operations to coordinate, monitor and review operational policies and plans of the Centre as well as the preparation of monthly technical reports;
- Support the biannual Partner Coordination Committee (PCC) meetings and draft meeting reports;
- Create and update documents in CARISCA’s Google Workspace.
- Participate in all CARISCA meetings and execute any duties that may be assigned to you; and,
- Perform any other role that may be assigned to you.
