Department of Chemical Engineering KNUST

The Department of Chemical Engineering KNUST under the College of Engineering is among the first departments set up in the university in October 1952 to prepare students for professional qualification only. The Department of Chemical Engineering is national recognized for its best practice for chemical engineering. it has grown it population for excellence in the field of chemical engineering local and international.

Chemical Engineering involves the principles of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology with engineering practices in order to improve the human environment. It also deals with both chemical and manufacture products through chemical processes including the application of environmental engineering to ensure factors related to environment are taken into consideration during design and manufacturing. Student will learn how to develop economical commercial processes by converting raw material into useful products using safe and clean products methods. Chemical Engineers invent, develop, design, operate and manage processes. To make product that meet society’s need.

The BSc degree program present at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Is a 4 year program that runs that runs for 8 semesters leading to the degree in BSc Chemical Engineering.

The program is to advance the knowledge and practical of the discipline of chemical engineering and to foster the intellectual and economic vitality of the people in Ghana through research and outreach. Also, the program is strutted to emphasize both engineering theory and technical skills. These skills enable learners who have gone through this program to solve complex program.

After a successful graduation, Students are equipped to work for government, Computer Simulation of Plant for Optimum Operation, Automatic Control of Processes. Pollution Prevention and Control.

Objectives

After a successful a completion of Bsc Chemical Engineering Students will be:

  • Provide a strong foundation for students to pursue alternative career paths, especially careers in business, management, law, or education.
  • Prepare students for careers in industries that require technical expertise in chemical engineering.
  • To motivate and encourage the students to adopt professionalism, teamwork, leadership, communication skills.
